"Summer Daze" Acrylic on Canvas Image 45.5 x 60.5 cm / 18" x 24" Idiosyncratic in habit, the eucalypt is the essence of the Australian landscape. It is the backbone of this land, shaping its character and the destiny of its inhabitants both animal and human. My response to the landscape is inevitably a response to the 'gum' tree. Spindly in its youth, majestic in its prime- wherever one looks, it is always there. It is the 'bush'. The eucalypt provides the lines, the shapes, texture and colour for a landscape painting. Indeed, it provides the very composition of the painting. |
